TRIANGULAR SERIES IN TEST  CRICKET



First triangular Cricket test series was held in England in 1912.


Only test playing nation i.e Australia, England and South Africa participated in maiden Tri-nation series in cricket in 1912.

Total nine matches was played in the series. Tournament format was round robin.

England became champion of firstever Tri-nation series in test cricket held in 1912.

After that no such series was held between 1912 to 1998.

1998-99 test cricket season triangular test cricket series was played among test playing nation in Asia.

ASIA TEST CHAMPIONSHIP



First Asian test championship was played in between February and March 1999.

India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka was the participants as Bangladesh not got test status then.

Round robin matches was played among India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka with rotation spot.
Final was held in neutral venue at Dhaka in Bangladesh.

Point system -
Winner of match - 12 points
Tie - 6 points.
Draw - No points.

Bonus points was awarded based on batting and bowling performance.

Pakistan and Sri Lanka was played the final of first Asia test championship.

Pakistan beat Sri Lanka by an innings and 175 runs to became winner.

SECOND ASIA TEST CHAMPIONSHIP

Second asia test championship was played among bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Pakistan as India pull back from series because of political tension between India and Pakistan.

The series held between August 2001 to March 2002.

Point system -

Winner - 16 points
Tie. - 8 points
Draw - No points

Bonus points awarded on batting and bowling performance.

The final held at Gaddafi stadium, lahore in Pakistan

Sri Lanka beat Pakistan by 9 wickests in final.


ICC World TestChampionship began in 2019.
